O livro disponibilizava diversas descrições de todos os cantos do nosso país e como é óbvio a Sertã também lá estava, eternizada num pequeno texto, que a seguir reproduzimos:
“A pretty little town on the Pêra or Certãa. The castle is extremely picturesque; so are the banks of the river, and the convent by its side. Near this place is Bonjardim, where the Great Constable D. Nuno Álvares Pereira was born in 1360. There are here 2 estalagens, both wretched. The church pf N.S. do Olival in this place was the only one in Portugal, except the Carmo at Lisbon, wich had an altar to the Great Constable. The iamge was the size of life; and the Constable was invoked against fevers”.
